The Art of Peace 1

The Art of Peace begins with you. Work on yourself and your appointed task in the Art of Peace. Everyone has a spirit that can be refined, a body that can be trained in some manner, a suitable path to follow. You are here for no other purpose than to realize your inner divinity and manifest your innate enlightenment. Foster peace in your own life and then apply the Art to all that you encounter. –Morihei Ueshiba

  1. This first stanza is a beginning. “The Art of Peace begins with you.” It is the language of responsibility.

Responsibility is the polar opposite of victimhood. There can be no peace in your own life as a victim, only contempt, cynicism and despair.

It’s easy to bitch and complain. Being responsible requires the willingness to set aside complaining for the sake of something. In this case, it’s for the sake of peace in your own life and the community in which you exist.

Said another way, there can be no peace in your world if you foment or tolerate discord.
