The Art of Peace 7

Eight forces sustain creation:

Movement and stillness,
Solidification and fluidity,
Extension and contraction,
Unification and division.

  1. No. 7 is a four directional yin-yang. Take any message out of it you like.

Here is where you might expect some blathering about yin-yang. Not from me. Not today. It’s too obvious, anyway.

Let’s take it into another direction. Consider personal growth. We may want to consider someone else’s personal growth since it’s far more difficult to consider our own.

What if personal growth is a matter of self creation — of re-creation? We could say that stagnant personal growth is a matter of fossilization.

For the day, observe people’s outward evidence of personal growth and see which — if any — of the eight forces are at work. See if the eight forces are more intense, have more energy, are more distinctive in growing, creating people than in the stagnant, fossilizing people.
