The Art of Peace 4

The Art of Peace is medicine for a sick world.

There is evil and disorder in the world because people have forgotten that all things emanate from one source. Return to that source and leave behind all self-centered thoughts, petty desires, and anger.

Those who are possessed by nothing possess everything.

  1. I haven’t posted from The Art of Peace in a while. But as I was writing the August Already, I was listening to Cat Power. Her voice resonates with me. The world seems a little less malevolent.

We are all part of the same universe, all human beings. As such we all inherit the same Being of human beings. <–snip–> fast forward through lengthy existentialist rant <–snip–> It’s in our inherited nature, in the Being of human being, to distance ourselves from everthing we consider “not me.” It creates a huge gap between us and “not us”.

It’s those considerations that run our lives. Our likes and dislikes run our lives. What we want and what we don’t want runs our lives. We are possessed by our considerations.

Anything that moves us in a direction of “less gap” reduces the grip that our considerations have over us. Moving towards that being (not merely the thought but the actual being) that we are all part of the same universe reduces the gap between us and “not us”.

Those who are possessed by nothing possess everything.
